Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord! — Psalm 31:24
Despite great advancements in technology, economy and culture, Japan is one of the most secular nations in the world according to a World Values Survey. Because Japanese value human relationships above truth, traditional mission strategies that preach the truth of their salvation and redemption have had a difficult time taking root. Island ECC sends short-term mission teams to Japan to build and foster relationships and offer encouragement and relief to local organisations working within the nation.

Japan is a country that is known to be so materially rich but spiritually poor. With a population of 127 million, only 0.5% are Christian. Because Christianity is viewed as a foreigner’s religion and Christians being so few, there are very few opportunities for Japanese people to hear about the gospel and see Christ’s love in action. One of the reasons we would like to go as a church team is to demonstrate this love in action to the local community. This will be the fourth time we will be sending a team from Island ECC to Japan. We will be partnering with local mission organizations and the work that they are already doing. Find out more.
