Love Offering / Giving A Fresh Start
You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. Psalm 71:20
Re: re- a prefix, occurring originally in loanwords from Latin, used with the meaning “again” or to indicate repetition, or to indicate withdrawal or backward motion.
This is a very common prefix in English. (Think of how many everyday words begin with the prefix – I’m sure you can easily think of 10.) These two letters contain incredible power; power to turn back time, power to grant a second chance, power to bring back value or hope or strength.
This little prefix is at the heart of the Gospel and holds the power of new life. “Vivere” is Latin for life. It’s where we get “joie de vivre” (French for the joy of living) or “viva la Vida” in Spanish (to live life). Add “re” and you have Revival. Our goal is that this year’s love offering will release the power of this prefix to help bring revival in both spiritual and physical ways to a world emerging from the pandemic. With this Love Offering, we will seek projects that:
Revive those hopelessly caught in drought and desperation
Redeem broken lives and reach the unreached
Renew the heart and strength of frontline staff and first responders
