33 The Series
33 Series uses a model of Jesus’ ministry while He was on earth as a means of discipling men for the Christian life. Each volume is presented in a six-session video series and will help you discover a healthy vision for manhood in a safe community of brotherhood.
A Man and His Design & A Man and His Story
A Man and His Design & A Man and His Story helps men learn the four "faces" of manhood and how to anticipate and transition through specific seasons of life. It also helps men to come to grips with defining moments and key relationships that share their unique personal "story".
A Man and His Traps & A Man and His Work
A Man and His Traps introduces a framework and a process that will help men understand what lies beneath the manhood traps and beneath the heart idols that can distract them from the truth and power of the gospel. A Man and His Work provides insight into some of the ways men can find both their best fit and fulfilment in work. The study acknowledges the tensions and obstacles that men face in their work - lives and helps them move beyond the frustrations and dead ends.
Conquer Series
Pure Desire Ministries has offered established programs for almost a decade at Island ECC with a powerful cinematic study called Conquer Series. The biblical teaching and principles in this tried and proven series helps the men conquer porn and walk in freedom. Whether they are faithfully staying the course or whether they are secretly struggling with sexual temptation, the lessons in this series are something every man will benefit from.
Bible Study Fellowship (Online via Zoom)
Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) is an in-depth, interdenominational Bible class for people of all ages and backgrounds. God is using BSF to help people discover joy, freedom and satisfaction in their lives as they encounter God in the Bible.
People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided Good and evil kings. Passionate prophets. Prophecies that shape our modern age. The Old Testament is full of theologically rich books that both recount and shape history. They also set the stage for the long-awaited Messiah, containing more than 300 prophecies covering His birth, life, death, and resurrection. People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided will unpack a fascinating period in Israel’s history across 15 books, from its split into two nations, through dozens of kings and prophets and ultimately to the heartbreaking exile into Babylon.
Romans Study (Online via Zoom - Thursdays)
Bible study group for men exploring the book of Romans. This letter answers the age–old question “How can sinful men measure up to God’s perfect standard of holiness and live a life that pleases him?” No wonder Martin Luther described this letter as “the purest gospel”.
Behold Your God
The purpose of joining this group is to become a disciple-maker for Jesus Christ. The book's central goal is to point the follower "to know who God is". This might seem a simple statement but in reality, many people only have a small glimpse of the magnitude and greatness of our Almighty God. The hope is that after 24 weeks the person is able to truly say that he is a disciple of Jesus Christ. The objective to achieve is to completely refocus/surrender all of one's life in the right order where God is at the forefront, also to build one's individual relationship with the Holy Spirit and to be motivated for the right reason through the Scripture from 1 Corinthians 3.
Married Men’s Group
A small group discussing topical issues for married men. The theme this season is Making Disciples - The pursuit of Godliness based on the teaching of Micah to act justly, to love mercy and walk humbly with your God.
Good or God - Why good without God isn’t enough.
These days the terms good and God seem synonymous. We believe what's generally accepted as good must be in line with God's will. Generosity, humility, justice/good. Selfishness, arrogance, cruelty/evil. The distinction seems pretty straightforward. But is that all there is to it? If good is so obvious, why does the Bible say that we need discernment to recognize it? Good or God? isn't another self-help message. This six-week video study by John Bevere will do more than ask you to change your behavior. It will empower you to engage with God on a level that will change every aspect of your life.
Pure Desire
If struggling with addictive or stuck behaviour, discover how to break free from denial and face the truth before God and others. Learn to identify patterns of relapse and develop an effective plan to avoid it. Here you will be given tools to understand how pain and trauma from the past drives present behaviours.
Pure Desire groups are led by volunteer facilitators who will guide discussions amongst the members as they complete workbook materials through 29 weekly sessions and accompanying video.
