Chinese Christians who would like to explore how to honor God and Chinese traditions at the same time.

Description:
As Chinese Christians, we face a lot of challenges when we seek to honour God by worshipping Him alone, and to honour our parents / ancestors by appropriate means. Many of us experience conflicts with our non-believing family members when dealing with occasions like funerals, Ching Ming Festivals, burning incense for ancestors at home, or even traditional practices during wedding ceremonies.

What are the Chinese belief systems behind such practices? Are they purely harmless rituals? Or are those practices related to idol worship forbidden by the Bible? How should Christians act in such a way that honour both God and our parents/ancestors?

Speaker:
Rev. Dr. Joseph Mak received his PhD from the University of Edinburgh. He is an expert on the relationship between the Christian Faith and the Chinese ancestral practice / worship. He has a lot of experience speaking to many different groups on this topic.

Format:
Lecture and Q&A.
