Japan Mission Trip

Japan is a country that is known to be so materially rich but spiritually poor. With a population of 127 million, only 0.5% are Christian. Because Christianity is viewed as a foreigner’s religion and Christians being so few, there are very few opportunities for Japanese people to hear about the gospel and see Christ’s love in action. One of the reasons we would like to go as a church team is to demonstrate this love in action to the local community.

This will be the fourth time we will be sending a team from Island ECC to Japan. We will be partnering with local mission organizations and the work that they are already doing. Examples of some of the ministries we will be involved in (subject to change as we are still working on the schedule with our local partners):

• Community Service: reaching out to people still living in temporary housing and organising community events for them.
• Encouraging local partners: bringing encouragement and prayer to local partners on the ground
• Outreach: being a part of outreaches to temporary housing, local Chinese workers and talking to local residents over a meal. Doing home visits to local families.
• Urban Ministry: prayer walking for the cities, partnering with local churches
