In partnership with the Salvation Army & CityLab, your generous giving to the Tai Po Relief Fund back in November 2025 has been a blessing to the families who are affected by the Fire. Here are the details of their projects:
The Salvation Army – “Together We Build” Hub
Objective:
The Tai Po fire tragedy, which displaced hundreds of residents, highlights the urgent need for comprehensive social and psychological support beyond temporary housing. To rebuild community cohesion and resilience among affected households, our initiative adopts a Trauma-Informed Care framework combined with an Asset-Based sustainable pathway from crisis to recovery.
The 3-Stage Project:
The project is structured around three progressive stages as below.
- Rebuild Living – Immediate relief and stabilisation, ensuring safety and dignity through choice-based support and predictable routines.
- Rebuild Life – Healing and empowerment through storytelling, skill-sharing, and trust-building activities that strengthen self-determination and hope.
- Community Building – Long-term resilience through mutual aid networks, co-creation hubs, and cross-estate collaborations that sustain social capital even beyond geographical boundaries.

How to get involved:
The “Serene Tai Po Neighbourhood Hub” Social Capital Building Project supports residents through volunteer companionship (Pacer), community activities and mutual support. The project connects with the community and volunteers to help residents navigate different stages of life, strengthen community connections, enhance physical and emotional well-being, and build a caring and supportive community.
- Volunteer Service Target: Residents of Wang Fuk Court
- Volunteer Service Areas: Mainly in Tai Po, Hung Shui Kiu & Aberdeen
- Volunteer Service Opportunities: Community Activity Support, Individual Support (One-on-One)
Requirements:
- Aged 18 or above and fluent in Cantonese
- Mature and responsible with empathy, patience, reliability and respect for confidentiality
- For Individual Support, a 6-month commitment & attending essential core training & an interview are required

CityLab
City Lab organised a series of art therapy and creative workshops for diverse affected groups across Tai Po, including students in the secondary schools in Tai Po, elderly residents in Wang Fuk Court and the general public who are affected emotionally by the tragedy. They invited therapists to lead workshops like papercraft postcard making, and will continue to host glowing clay ball making and sweet potato tiramisu workshops in the summer, supporting the community healing through creative works. This journey will culminate in a public exhibition at the Tai Po Arts Centre this November, showcasing the resilience and renewal in the community inspired by these programs.
Christ’s Vineyard Church
This church in Tai Po created a space for care and connection for the affected families. The church hosted a market in their venue, giving out free meals and supermarket vouchers at their church café to families, giving Lego gifts for their children. During this market, the church was able to provide free household essentials and also invited the wider community to offer supportive messages to Wang Fuk Court residents.
