Spiritual Formation is an invitation to walk more deeply with Christ and be shaped by His presence. Students will explore what it means to know Christ personally, make space for God’s transforming grace through spiritual practices, and understand the journey of faith with clarity and hope.

The class is built around three lessons: the need and meaning of spiritual formation; the practices that help believers grow in Christ; and a model of the Christian spiritual journey that helps believers persevere through seasons of growth, struggle, dryness, waiting, and renewal.

Who It's For

Any new or seasoned believer to discover what it means to know Christ personally and be transformed by His grace through spiritual practices.

Course Overview
Lesson 1: The Need and Meaning of Spiritual Formation and Knowing Christ

Every believer needs to be formed by God. Students will reflect on spiritual formation as the lifelong work of the Holy Spirit, shaping them to know Christ deeply and become more like Him.

Key themes: Transformation, lifelong formation, the work of the Holy Spirit, knowing Christ deeply, becoming like Jesus

Lesson 2: Practices of Spiritual Formation

Spiritual practices help believers make room for God’s grace, listen to His voice, and respond to His presence in daily life.

Key themes: Prayer, Scripture meditation, worship, silence, solitude, confession, community, service, discernment, a rhythm of life with God

Lesson 3: A Model for the Christian Spiritual Journey

The Christian journey includes seasons of growth, struggle, waiting, dryness, renewal, and deeper surrender. A clear spiritual roadmap helps believers avoid feeling lost, stuck, or discouraged, and encourages them to keep trusting God’s faithful work.

Key themes: the journey with God, stages of growth, spiritual dryness, plateaus, perseverance, surrender, trust, maturity in Christ

A Word of Encouragement

New believers will find a gentle foundation for beginning the journey, while seasoned Christians will find encouragement for renewal and deeper surrender. Wherever students are, they are invited to keep walking with Christ and trust His transforming work within them.
