For over 14 years, Hope of the City has brought companionship to elderly residents in Shek Kip Mei. To expand our reach, we are launching an exciting new partnership with The Salvation Army. We are looking for dedicated, compassionate Cantonese-speaking individuals to build friendships with the elderly living in Shek Kip Mei.
Volunteers will be paired in groups of 2-3 to visit the same elderly household one Saturday a month on scheduled visit dates, for six months in each round of commitment. The scheduled dates are to be decided between your small group you are assigned with and your elderly, however we will have scheduled dim sum lunches every other month for the volunteers and the elderly. After six months, there will be an evaluation to see whether elderly and volunteers are interested in continuing to build the relationships.
