Format: Lecture, Video, and Q&A
Who is it for: Anyone (Christian or non-Christian) who is interested in understanding the historical resurrection event.

The resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of the Christian faith, confirming that Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior who died for our sins. In fact, Apostle Paul was so confident about the resurrection that he made an all-or-nothing statement about Christianity: If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile.
But why was Paul so certain? Was Jesus really raised from the dead? For centuries, skeptics have tried various tactics and theories in the hope of debunking the Christian faith. A variety of ideas have been proposed, ranging from the substitution theory to the resuscitation theory to the hallucination theory. Have these theories been successful in raising doubts? Or do they turn out to strengthen the Christian faith?
This seminar revisits claims about historical events surrounding the resurrection. Was Jesus really crucified? Did he really die on the cross? Was the tomb really empty? Did people really see him after his death? The seminar examines data from the Bible and from history, including ancient records written by both Christians and non-Christians. It explores data provided by archaeology, medicine, and philosophy. As Christians, we welcome questions from believers, seekers, and non-believers.
