6/04/2025 - 6/04/2025
Date: Sundays, 6 and 13 April, 2025
Time: 11:30am - 1:00pm
Location: 10/F Classroom
Teacher: Martin Radford
This course continues on from the previous two sessions on the “hard” things Jesus said although, if you missed those it does not matter. Jesus’ teaching was radical, challenging, and demanding both for his peers and for all Christians through the ages. “Love your enemies”; “Take up your cross and follow me”; “How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God” and more besides! What did he mean? How did his hearers respond and how are we to respond? Our task is to explore and understand these sayings even if we are not comforted by them – after all, it is sometimes said that Jesus came to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable!
In this short course, Martin opens up a way through the language, cultural and religious life of 1st-century Palestine so we can uncover what Jesus was truly saying and understand the challenge of Jesus’ message “The Kingdom of God is at hand” which is the very centre of our proclamation and mission as Christians.
Who it's for: Anyone who wants to understand more deeply the teaching of Jesus and the challenge of the Gospel to us as His followers.
