3/11/2024 - 3/11/2024
Is the Bible still relevant today? The Bible, in which our Christian faith is rooted, is the self-revelation of God, his plan in creation, and his relationship with humans. However, it is expressed in languages and cultures that are vastly different from our own. This can cause concern, even difficulties in how we interpret certain aspects of scripture for today. So, we will focus on three areas that highlight this and which may help “bridge the gap”.
The Bible in the 21st Century
- Session 1 (Nov 3): Origins in Genesis – avoiding misinterpretation and gaining insight
- Session 2 (Nov 10): Moral Issues - Slavery and War – coping with different value systems
- Session 3 (Nov 17): The Future – how the Bible expresses it and how we can understand it now
These three sessions can be taken as a whole unit (recommended) OR can be attended as individual ONE-OFF sessions. Sign-up is essential and a guarantee of your attendance.
Who it's for: Seasoned Christians who want to deepen their Bible reading, those who lead Bible studies, and those who really want to get a handle on understanding Scripture.

The Bible - Behind the Scenes (Unit IV)
This class, "The Bible in the 21st Century", is the fourth unit of a new four-part course and is now open for sign-up. These three sessions can be taken as a whole unit (recommended) OR can be attended as individual ONE-OFF sessions. You are welcome to join, even if you missed Units I and II. A certificate awaits those who complete all four units of the four-part course. More information about this unit can be found below the sign-up button.
This last unit in the Bible Behind the Scenes takes a different route than the previous 3 units in that we are going to look at how we understand certain key issues in the bible given the enormous gap in cultures and values.
