基督徒: The Heritage of the Chinese Christian
Martyr or heretic?
Pioneer or syncretist?
Loyalist or traitor?
Who exactly is the Chinese Christian?
Over the 1,400 years of Christ in China, many in the Global Church have held to prejudices about their neighbors in the Middle Kingdom that are ignorant at best, and harmful at worst. Nevertheless, the path for the humble seeker yearning to understand Chinese Christianity remains the same: one must actively step aside from his or her preconceived notions to allow the Chinese Church to speak for itself.
Tracing the rich testimony of Chinese Christianity across four key movements in history, seminary student XY Lau introduces the heritage of the Chinese Christian, unpacking what Christ and China have brought out of each other, and exploring how Chinese and western Christians can grow with each other to form a more enriched body of Christ.
Speaker Bio:
XY (Xiang Yi) Lau is a Malaysian Chinese student currently pursuing his Master of Theology at Dallas Theological Seminary. Born near Kuala Lumpur and raised in Shanghai, he became a Christian at The American University through the discipleship efforts of a missionary named Kevin Kusunoki. His biggest ambition has been for those around him to walk in the light and love of Christ; this is followed closely by his desire for them to pursue and embrace their God-restored cultural heritage. He now lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, with his beloved wife Rae.
