Since the day Hope of the City has been serving as our church's local outreach arm 13 years ago, we have been working with our neighbouring partner, Hong Kong Family Welfare Society (HKFWS) to care for the families in the North Point district.
According to the Census and Statistics Department, the Eastern District has the highest ratio of elderly population where more than 1 out of 4 citizens are over the age of 65 years old. With the spike of families emigrating Hong Kong in recent years, we are witnessing a rise in the number of 'left behind elderly'.
Hence we have been partnering with HKFWS to run various levels of smartphone classes and also publishing life-story books for the elderly and their caregivers. And during festive seasons like the Mid-Autumn Festival, we have an apt opportunity to ensure our neighbours do not feel alone and practice loving our neighbours as a church.
We are recruiting volunteers to deliver gift bags and spend time connecting with the families who are living in subdivided flats or public housing in North Point on Sep 23 (Sat), 10:30am to 12:30pm. Come join us to find out more on how you can be involved!
