This class is for anyone who wants a better understanding of the First Letter of Peter.
Description:
As Christians we are often called to be “in the world, but not of the world”. The truth of the gospel has helped us realise that our deepest longings can only be satisfied by God, and that whether we feel it as such, our ultimate desire is to be with God. And yet, the fact is that as long as we are still alive on Earth, our sinful nature remains. The temptations and hardships of the world can feel overwhelming, and the realities of life can easily dominate our time.
So how do we live in a world knowing that ultimately “our citizenship is in heaven”? How do we deal with this tension between a desire to be with God and living in a world to which we know we don’t belong? How do we live as “exiles” in a place that is often hostile to the Christian faith?
In this four-week class we will study the First Letter of Peter with the aim of understanding his heart behind it and to be encouraged to stand firm in “the true grace of God”.
