Freedom to Choose

In this strange, odd time of COVID-19, when we experience certain confinement and restrictions, it makes me consider what is freedom of choice?

Freedom has been an innate human desire ever since the dawn of man, the cry for Freedom has been and still is ideal for many individuals and people groups. I feel Hong Kong has done comparatively well in the area of COVID associated personal freedom; a friend of mine living in the US and confined to their home said to me, “I hate being told what to do and what not to do! It goes against the personal freedoms that we stand for.” Our choices and concepts of freedom are often based on what we let into our minds and hold dear to our heart. What do we base our freedom on?

As a follower of Christ, what is anchoring your soul? Instead of being tossed by the ever-changing waves of the world, we can rest assured when the choices we make are based on His words. Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success “(ESV)

We have all made decisions based on our fleshly desires, only to look back with regret. Unless you choose to subject yourself to God’s word that gives true freedom, no matter where you are in the world, and no matter what the circumstances in the world are, whether you amongst the richest in the world or a person needing aid, you will always be a prisoner of your own desires.
