Christmas is Cancelled
Every year, Christmas comes and goes. Chestnuts are roasting on the streets of Hong Kong. Starbucks changes their cups. Decorations are taken out of boxes and hung around homes across the city.
People scramble to get gifts for their friends and family; meals are prepared for fellowship gatherings; and Santa Claus makes his appearance in malls (and chimneys) around the world.
It really is a special time.
But this year, I’ve had enough. I’m cancelling Christmas.
Why?
Because I’m making everyday Christmas! No, I’m not going to leave my tree up all year long or sing Christmas carols in the summer. But Christmastime is a reminder that we have joy because of Jesus... therefore, I am going to remember this passage daily:
“As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Now remain in My love. If you keep My commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commands and remain in His love. I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” John 15:9-11
Our joy is complete in Christ, so I’m stretching Christmas from one day to 365 days! Let’s all remember the joy the Christ brings us on Christmas Day, and also on New Years Day, and CNY... and Mondays and Sundays and every day in between!
