Bold Faith Newsletter #4 - Ambassadors: Gifts and Talents

Posted by Phil Chin on

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

We want to wish you a Merry (early) Christmas, and give you a brief update on the exciting things God is doing in our church through the Bold Faith Campaign!

Upcoming Christmas Eve Services...

Our numbers continue to grow, our ministries continue to expand, and God's movement in our church and around Hong Kong is evident. In fact, we are expecting record numbers at our upcoming Christmas Eve Services, and will be opening up all of our worship halls to accommodate everyone with possible overflow! Being a part of these vibrant, special, and packed events gives us a clear picture of the way God is expanding our ministry, and a reminder of why we're doing what we're doing with the Bold Faith Campaign!

Renew Worship Night (Record Numbers!)...

If you were one of nearly 700 who attended our Renew Worship Night in November, we hope you were blessed and inspired by this night dedicated to worshipping God! Because of-again-record numbers we will no longer be able to hold Renew Worship Nights at Island ECC due to our lack of space! This is a wonderful problem to have (and we have secured a larger rental venue for our next Renew Worship Night in March), but this is another example of the exciting ways God is growing our church + the great need for a larger, permanent venue.

Currently...

The Bold Faith Campaign was launched nearly 3 years ago, and we continue to diligently pursue options around Hong Kong with a large committee of experts supporting this search. Currently, we are pursuing GIC (Government Institutional and Community) site searching in the public sector. Additionally, we will continue to review commercial buildings and would love your continued prayers.

Introducing Mike and Kat Lau...

We are pleased to introduce Mike and Kat Lau who have been serving our Bold Faith Campaign as Ambassadors with their time, giving, and resources.

Kat, Everly, Aiden and Mike Lau

"We're Mike and Kat! Canucks living in Hong Kong for over a decade with Hong Kong born kiddos Aiden and Everly. We're pleased to share with you our faith journey and how we've come to call Island ECC our church home.

We've been coming to Island ECC for over 7 years now. From getting plugged in with the Worship Ministry and our Care Group, the people at Island ECC have become our family away from family.

When we first attended Island ECC we were staunch 11:30am service attendees. And as our own family grew with two new additions, our church family did as well. We joined many others at the launch of the 3pm service as numbers grew and grew. If you've ever been on the 9th floor Kids Club during the morning services and tried to take a lift down to the lobby, you'll know what we mean about church growth! God is clearly moving in the lives of those that come throughout the week to our church.

When we were first introduced to Bold Faith, what excited us most was the heart behind the campaign. It goes beyond a physical building (although that's a crucial part) but rather it is a call towards a vision of seeing our family, friends and city come to know our incredible God.

Bold Faith is about all of us as a church community drawing near to God's heart, joining in what He is doing in our city and believing that anything is possible with Him. When we step out of our comfort zone collectively and step out in faith believing that God will do as He says, something happens to us. We are being changed and transformed in the process. Our prayer and hope is that as our numbers grow, our faith would increase too; for a permanent facility that will accommodate the growing needs of our community and beyond, and that the people of Hong Kong would experience the deep love of Jesus Christ."

Please pray for Mike and Kat to use their gifts and talents for God's Glory! Our church is so thankful to God's provision of the Bold Faith Ambassadors.

Blessings
