Bold Faith

Island ECC’s Bold Faith fund campaign is an initiative to establish a permanent venue in Hong Kong to advance God’s kingdom. The objective is to raise sufficient funds to procure and own a building to enable our church to multiply ministries and serve our city well. We are inviting our entire congregation to joyfully and prayerfully contribute to this cause with equal sacrifice but unequal gifts via a 1-3 year pledge.

PRAY DAILY

"Lord, show me how You want me to be a part of your kingdom work in Hong Kong. Show me practical ways I can give that will stretch my faith, and provide for Your church."

EQUAL SACRIFICE, NOT EQUAL GIFTS

Remember that while some are able to give bigger amounts than others, we truly believe that God is honoured with our unity in sacrifice. Perhaps another way to discern your giving amount to the Lord, is not to ask how much you can afford to give, but how much you actually need to keep for yourself.

REASON OR REVELATION

Determine whether you will give based on reason or revelation. Giving based on reason simply looks at finances, determines a “reasonable” amount, and then donates. It is an act of unselfishness, but it limits the opportunity to see God perform a miracle.

Decisions based on REVELATION require faith, and are determined by prayer and a willingness to have your faith stretched.

UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A STEWARD AND A DONOR

A donor helps out an organisation by giving. A steward recognises that everything belongs to God, and is simply a “manager” of His resources.

THINK CREATIVELY ABOUT HOW TO BE INVOLVED

What purchase can I delay so that I can give? • What income stream do I have now that I can direct to BOLD FAITH? • What asset could I sell in order to provide for God’s work? • What sacrifice can I make in my standard of living in order to increase my giving?

CHOOSE TO GIVE AS AN ACT OF WORSHIP

Giving can be a source of frustration if you feel obligated or manipulated. Or it can be a great source of worship if you are able to yield it to God with a sense of delight and trust.
