Philippine Construction and Outreach
September 16 - 20, 2009
Two great Philippine-based organizations are coming together to give you the chance
to reach the poorest of the poor in the Philippines. Partner alongside both International
Care Ministries, who provides Feeding, Medical, Education, Livelihood and Church
Empowerment programs, and Gawad Kalinga, who works to provide durable and secure
homes for the extremely poor, completely changing the face of poverty within
pre-existing slums. This trip will have two main activities at Bacolod: construction with
GK and outreach with ICM. No special skills necessary; just men and women with
a willingness to demonstrate God's love for the poor. Families with children over the
age of 7 are welcome.

Indonesia

The Sundanese are the largest unreached people group in Indonesia. Its population of
about 31 million people is predominantly Muslim. Our team will visit national workers in
Java and learn the challenges they face. We will serve them in a variety of ways, including
working with university students learning English. We will also interact with university
teachers who want help to teach English more effectively. Our aim is to return to
Hong Kong with a better understanding of how the Lord wants us to be involved in
expanding his kingdom in Indonesia, the largest Muslim population in the
world.
Prerequisite: take the Mars Hill Institute course Understand Islam: Why and How (March 1-Apr 26).

Cambodia
November, 2009 (tbc)
Cambodia is a country that has been ravaged by years of civil war and poverty. During
the Khmer Rouge regime, over 1.5 million people were killed, leaving 42% of the
population now under the age of 14. ln the midst of poverty and seemingly little hope,
we see God bringing harvest and love to this nation. We will spend time encouraging
local Christians, reaching out to children in the outlying villages to bring them joy and
love through games, songs and drama, visiting slums and the poor who live and work in
the rubbish dump and praying for AIDS/HIV patients and prisoners. Come to understand
not only Cambodia's broken past but God's work in healing its people. Invest in lives
by walking with them and showing them the love of God.

Help bring relief and joy to the poor and homeless children of Ulaanbaatar, Outer

as classes at the community center and family visits, or being a part of a summer
camp for the children to show the love of Christ by providing fun activities along with
companionship, free playtime and medical care. You can choose to go in the first week,
second week, or both.

Egypt
June 8-19, 2009
Watch a stunning sunrise from the summit of Mount Sinai, crawl beneath the pyramids of Giza, glide down the Nile on a felucca and visit Saint Catherine's monastery where one of the oldest hand-written copies of the Greek Bible was kept. Most importantly, come see and hear what the Lord is doing in Egypt where Christianity first came probably as early as 40 A.D. yet today is predominantly Muslim. We will serve national workers in Cairo in a variety of ways and return to Hong Kong inspired and committed to reach out to followers of the second largest religion in the world.
Prerequisite: take the Mars Hill Institute course Understand Islam: Why and How (March 1- Apr 26).

Rwanda
end of June beginning of July, 2009
The scars that remain from the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda are lived daily through widows, orphans, street kids, AIDS and people in poverty. Amidst the challenges the nation is being rebuilt one person at a time. Through our Rwandan brothers and sisters we are able to see the hope in those people who were left to survive with AIDS, fear and no future, without parents, education or a way to make a living. As we encourage them to find a way to go to school, learn a skill, to get a shelter off the streets or to keep small businesses running, it is God's love that heals and strengthens their hearts to live in difficult circumstances. God loves them so much! We follow Christ into areas where there is little light to sow the seeds and to keep the flame burning to take us out of darkness into the light.
